Born in Craiova (Romania) and established in Trieste (Italy), he began to study the guitar in his hometown at the age of seven. He continued his studies at “Music University" - Brasov (Transylvania) where he won a scholarship that brought him at the “Conservatory of Music Giuseppe Tartini” - Trieste. Under the guidance of M° Frédéric Zigante he graduated with first class honours and was awarded among the best graduated students.

Laurentiu studied with internationally well-known professors (Olivier Chassain, David Russell, Marco Socìas, Marcello Rivelli, Jukka Savjoki, Eduardo Fernandez, Luciano Contini, Bruno Battisti D'Amario, Pier Luigi Corona, Corneliu Voicescu, George Mitrache, ecc.) and followed specialized courses in performance and composition of the ancient repertoire for plucked instruments at "SMAV - Academy of Ancient Music" - Venice with M° Massimo Lonardi. He also attended Master Classes in Chamber Music with Trio di Parma at “Santa Cecilia”  Music Academy - Portogruaro (Italy).

 

From an early age, Laurentiu’s musical skills are rewarded in many international guitar competitions and performes frequently in Italy, Romania, Austria, Belgium, Finland and China. Together with Transylvania Guitar Quartet and "Paul Constantinescu" Philharmonic he played the Romanian premiere of "Concierto Andaluz" for guitars and orchestra by Joaquin Rodrigo conducted by M° Ilarion Ionescu-Galati. In the summer of 2016 was invited to play as a soloist in a tournée of 13 concerts held in China.

 

He is constantly interested in enriching the guitar repertoire by making a variety of arrangements and transcription from baroque to the late 20th century including works of Scarlatti, Bach, Boccherini, Rossini, Mussorgsky, Porumbescu.

 

Besides performing as a soloist, with orchestra or in various ensembles, he also has a proficient teaching career. During the last years collaborates as guitar teacher with:  “Central Ostrobothnia Conservatory” - Kokkola (Finland), "Fux Konservatorium" - Graz (Austria), "Lemmensinstituut - Conservatory of Music" - Leuven (Belgium) and United World College Adriatic - ICMA - Duino (Italy) where holds Master Classes and lectures. He's often invited as a jury member at international competitions. 

Since 2013 covers the role of Coordinator and Head of Departments at "G. Verdi" - School of Music (Udine - Italy).
